Section One introduces all things wetlands. This section will teach you about the basic characteristics that define a wetland habitat, hydrology of wetlands, and the important ecosystem services they provide. It will also help you learn about some of the history of land that we call home. This brief overview- geology, early management, habitat loss, and biodiversity of the Willamette Valley- will help you lay a strong foundation of knowledge for which you can continue building your stewardship practices on in order to benefit the larger, connected ecosystem.
