Project Planning and History
Spring 2009
In February 2009 the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) was approved for the project site. The permit addresses land use issues. The project site is located in the Natural Resource Zone, which required the facility to obtain CUP approval before building permits for the site and buildings can be obtained. During the CUP process, the site plan was reviewed to ensure that factors such as type of use, building size, traffic, parking, landscape, and protection of natural features are compatible with the zoning requirements.
WREN is leading the fundraising initiative for Phase 1 of the education center. Seventy percent of the funds have been raised.

Spring 2008
The Education Center Partnership and design team celebrated a huge milestone with the community - the completion of the master plan for Phases 1 and 2. Rowell Brokaw Architects and the Miller | Hull Partnership presented the concepts that emerged from the focus groups and public meetings throughout 2007. Capital Campaign Chair Susan Castillo opened for the evening’s presentation. The conditional use permit process has commenced and will be followed by stages of development design. Conceptual images, provided by Miller | Hull are presented below. Click on each image to enlarge.
